Plug Standards and Certifications
The Argentinian plug is the same as the Australian plug, both of which follow the standard plug standard. The voltage is 220V, and the characteristic is three flat pins. This standard plug is used in China, Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina.
The Argentinian plug safety certification is abbreviated as IRAM, while the Australian plug safety certification is abbreviated as SAA.
Plugs can be classified by function into:
- Headphone plug
- DC plug
- Audio plug
- USB plug
- Video plug
- Microphone plug
- Charger plug
- Mobile phone plug
Plug Standards by Region
1. UK Standard Plug (BS 1363)
The characteristic is three square pins, with a voltage of 220-250V. The UK standard plug is used in Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Maldives, Qatar, and other countries and regions.
2. US Standard Plug (Type A & B)
The characteristic is one round pin and two flat pins. Some Chinese two-pin plugs can also directly fit into the US socket. The voltage is 110-130V. The US standard plug is used in the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, the Philippines, Thailand, and other countries as well as in Taiwan.
3. EU Standard Plug (Type C, E, F)
The characteristic is two round pins, with a voltage of 220-250V. The EU standard plug is used in Germany, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, and other EU countries, as well as in countries like South Korea and Russia.
Voltage Systems Around the World
Globally, there are generally two voltage systems:
- 110V, used in countries like the United States, Japan, and some countries in the Americas.
- 220V-250V, commonly used in Europe, Australia, Asia, and most parts of the world.
The US plug system typically operates at 110V, such as on ships, where the voltage is designed for low-power equipment.
